Every Pokéfan has a favorite cute Pokemon, but with so many adorable critters, how can one pick which one is the cutest? To settle the dispute once and for all, we invited over 650 Pokémon fans to vote for the cutest Pokémon in a FinalBoss poll.
We’ve also made a cute film to show you these adorable Pokémon in all their splendor. Before digging into the comprehensive list, watch the video below to enjoy the pleasure of the top 20 cutest Pokémon as determined by fans!
Without additional ado, here are the top 20 cutest Pokémon as chosen by fans.
Cute Pokemon #20 : Popplio
Popplio stands out as one of the cutest water types and starters in all of the franchise. It’s even cuter than Seel and Spheal, and that’s saying something! It’s easy to see why Pokéfans voted for it – it’s basically a sea puppy mixed with a friendly looking clown.
Who wouldn’t want this little guy at their children’s birthday party?
Cute Pokemon #19: Joltik
Joltik, one of the series’ smallest Pokémon, is the type of insect you wouldn’t want to squash if you found it crawling on your bed. It’s unquestionably the cutest insect type, however several others give it a run for cutest electric type.
Props to the creators of this’mon, since who would ever think anything with -tik/tick in the name cute?
Cute Pokemon #18: Espeon
Sorry about that, sports fans. We’re not referring to ESPN. Espeon, one of the most beautiful Eeveelutions, is in question. According to its Pokédex entry, its psychic type powers allow it forecast the weather, thus if you had one, you wouldn’t need to check the weather channel or app anymore.
Its design is so cute in such a compelling manner since it isn’t simply little and adorable like some of the other submissions, but instead looks like an alien cat from another planet.
Cute Pokemon #17: Shaymin
Let’s all show our appreciation for this very cute grass type hedgehog since Shaymin is listed as the “Gratitude Pokémon” in the Pokédex. Shaymin, like Joltik above, is one of the smallest Pokémon, standing at less than 8″ (0.2m).
It can readily fit into a backpack or handbag, allowing you to carry it everywhere you go and show off its adorable tiny face.
Cute Pokemon #16: Mareep
Phillip K. Dick authored the sci-fi book “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” and now I’d want to ask the same question of people living in the Pokéverse: do they count Mareep when they’re having trouble sleeping? Counting Mareep would probably keep me going “aww!”
Not only is this electric style Pokémon fluffy and cuddly, but I’m sure the farmers who grow them save a lot of money on their power bills each month. Cute and handy – a two-for-one deal.
Cute Pokemon #15: Skitty
Speaking of strange cats, I guess the artists at GameFreak were tasked with creating a cat made nearly exclusively of ovals and circles, which is how we got this round cutie pie regular type. According to its Pokédex record, “it threatens enemies with a sharp growl,” but who could bring a growl seriously coming from such a chubby, happy-looking face?
If you decide to adopt one, make sure you have adequate Skitty litter for it to use as a toilet.
Cute Pokemon #14: Squirtle
Squirtle, one of the original starters and the first water type seen in the Pokémon: Red and Blue games, has long been a fan favorite. Squirtle was chosen the cutest water type by Pokéfans, and it’s simple to see why: it’s round and friendly like Skitty. Not to mention the fact that it’s a turtle with a squirrel’s tail – it’s just too adorable.
In the original anime, the Squirtle team threatened to kill Misty if Ash breached the pledge he made to them in the Japanese version and threatened to color her hair purple in the English dub – maybe something was lost in translation.
Cute Pokemon #13: Umbreon
Sorry, Espeon fans: Umbreon received more votes for the cutest Pokemon than your favorite of the two Pokémon: Gold and Silver eeveelutions. It’s simple to understand why it’s popular: it’s cute like any other eeveelution, but also a touch eerie with its black, red, and gold color schemes.
People who like Eevee and Halloween will appreciate this. Despite coming off as a bit creepy, Umbreon must be a terrific buddy since it demands a high amount of friendship to develop from Eevee.
Cute Pokemon #12: Dratini
Dratini and its two evolutions were the only dragon styles in the whole series in Pokémon: Red and Blue. Dratini is not only the cutest dragon type, but it was also one of the rarest in the past.
Its design is a cross between a worm and the long, floating bodies of dragons from East Asian civilizations. This makes it seem both classy and charming.
Cute Pokemon #11: Togepi
Babies make you smile. Togepi is essentially a constant infant Pokemon who is still half-encased in its eggshell. It’s no surprise that so many people choose this adorable fairy type (or regular type if you’re playing the earlier games). Because Misty owned one for a long time, it’s also a favorite of many fans of the first few seasons of the anime.
Strange tidbit about Togepi: according to the Pokédex, it can discharge poison from its spikes and take other people’s optimism to give to its trainer. Avoid getting on Togepi’s wrong side, since it will give you depression.
Cute Pokemon #10: Mimikyu
Mimikyu is one of the cutest ghost and fairy classes, and it has one of the most tragic backstories in the games’ lore – the Pokédex says it’s desperate to make friends with humans, but visiting it without its shabby Pikachu disguise can cause people sick or cause an excruciating death.
The sad history makes it extra cuter. Don’t you just want to embrace Mimkyu and die while doing so?
Cute Pokemon #9 Charmander
How can you deny the cuteness of this fire type when its name contains the word Charm? Charmander, like Squirtle, is an original starter from both Red and Blue. It also features one of the anime series’ cutest calls.
If you train a Charmander, remember that letting the flame on its tail burn out would destroy it, according to its Pokédex entry. Don’t murder this lovely!
Cute Pokemon #8: Pichu
Pikachu became a worldwide hit when the first games were published, and GameFreak must have thought, “What if we made it a baby?” Pichu was one of the first prevolutions released in the Pokémon Gold and Silver series. It’s not only one of the cutest electric kinds, but it’s also similar to Umbreon and Espeon in that it requires friendship to level up, making it an extremely affectionate’mon.
Joint Cute Pokemon #7th Place: Sylveon
Sylveon, maybe the most twee Pokémon in the whole series, was the first true fairy type, having introduced the notion in generation 6. Its cuteness is essentially built into its DNA: it develops adorned in bows! It’s like Arceus’ gift to all Pokéfans.
It’s perfect to bring around people you know like to quarrel since its bows even provide a relaxing vibe. Say goodbye to anger management and welcome to Sylveon!
Joint Cute Pokemon #6th Place: Growlithe
Like a real dog, the Pokédex says that Growlithe is “obedient, friendly, and loyal.” It sounds like the perfect pet for Pokéfans. Can your pooch help you roast s’mores? I didn’t think so.
Fans love this little guy so much that he’s our list’s cutest fire type – even beating out Charmander! So bring out your milk bones and give some pats to this adorable good boy/girl.
Cute Pokemon #5: Pikachu
Did you think the fans would forget about Pikachu? You’d have to be heartless to hear its cry and see its red cheeks without screaming in an overdose of cuteness, whether it’s the original obese Pikachu or the younger, post-diet one. While Pikachu was not chosen the cutest Pokemon, its position as the cutest electric type makes it the cutest Pokemon, beating out Pichu, its infant form.
Even its name is pleasant, since it is the Japanese equivalent of “sparkle squeak.”
Cute Pokemon #4: Mew
Mew ranks fourth on our list and is the cutest psychic type and legendary Pokemon. Mew was legendary among fans who had followed the series from its inception.
Before surprise presents and Pokemon games with online access, fans had to attend special Nintendo events in person to get this pink cutie without using hacks. True devotion was necessary.
Cute Pokemon #3: Bulbasaur
Bulbasaur is our third cutest Pokemon on the list, and because to its location, it is also the cutest starter, poison type, and grass type. Bulbasaur is every biology nerd’s dream: it belongs to both the animal and plant kingdoms. It’s perfect for people who desire a Pokémon that combines a dog-lizard with a garden.
Fun fact: Mew was the conclusion of the Kanto Pokédex at #151, whereas Bulbasaur is the beginning at #001.
Cute Pokemon #2: Alolan Vulpix
Alolan Vulpix, the first ice class and regional variation on our list, combines the cutest fox Pokémon with the original Vulpix and cranks it up to eleven out of ten. The Alolan version features exquisite white coloration, a poofy bottom and patch of fur on its leader, coloring that makes its feet appear like socks, and stunning multicolored eyes.
It’s easy to see why Pokéfans ranked this variety second on our list.
Cute Pokemon #1: Eevee
Please, drumroll… Eevee is the cutest Pokemon on our list! She’s so endearing that the Pokédex refers to her as “a super cute Pokemon.” That is the official endorsement of GameFreak. Pokéfans of all ages admire Eevee, a fluffy, cuddly, friendly fox-dog hybrid that can transform into a plethora of other wonderful Pokémon.
However, as lovely and endearing as those eeveelutions are, you must acknowledge the cutest regular type: the OG Eevee.
