Minecraft and NFTs: what is an nft full guide

Minecraft and NFTs: We recently got some input from community members seeking explanation and openness regarding Mojang Studios’ and Minecraft‘s views on NFTs (non-fungible tokens) and blockchain.

While we are upgrading our Minecraft Usage Guidelines to provide minecraft nft more explicit guidance on emerging technologies, we wanted to share our opinion that NFT integrations with Minecraft are usually not something we will support or enable nft art .

Let us investigate further!

WHAT IS AN NFT?

Nft meaning: An NFT is a one-of-a-kind, non fungible tokens that is part of a blockchain and is frequently acquired using nft crypto cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin. An NFT can be connected with any digital asset, such as a MPEG or a GIF, although digital art, such as JPEGs, is the most popular use case today.

When you buy an NFT, you get a token that proves you possess the original digital file. However, every digital file may be duplicated, relocated, or erased. NFTs and blockchain have also been linked to speculation, in which prices rise quickly and, as we have recently seen, plummet quickly.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME?

We highly advise you to read the information below if you are a player or developer actively involved in purchasing, selling, or trading NFTs that utilize Minecraft (such as skins or worlds). Otherwise, these changes are unlikely to affect you.

OUR NFT AND MINECRAFT POLICY

We detail how a server owner might charge for access in our Minecraft Usage Guidelines and that all players should have entry to the exact functionality. These rules are in place to ensure that Minecraft stays in a community where everyone has access to the same material.

NFTs, on the other hand, can create scarcity and exclusion models that contradict our Guidelines and the Minecraft spirit.

Blockchain technologies cannot be integrated within our client and server applications to confirm that Minecraft players have a secure and inclusive experience, nor may Minecraft in-game content such as worlds, minecraft skins, persona items, minecraft java edition, minecraft classic, minecraft education edition or additional minecraft mods be used by blockchain technology to create a scarce digital help. Our reasoning is as follows.

Some businesses have recently introduced NFT implementations linked to Minecraft world files and skin packs.

Other ways NFTs and blockchain might be used with Minecraft include:

  • Making Minecraft collectible NFTs.
  • Allowing players to earn NFTs through server activity.
  • Receiving Minecraft NFT incentives for activities outside of the game minecraft java edition.

Each of these applications of NFTs and other blockchain technologies establishes digital ownership based on scarcity and exclusion, which contradicts Minecraft’s principles of creative inclusiveness and collaborative play.

NFTs do not include all community members and create a scenario of haves and have-nots. The speculative pricing and investment psyche around NFTs pull the focus away from playing the game and encourage profiteering, which we believe is incompatible with our players’ long-term satisfaction and success.

We also worry that certain third-party NFTs may be untrustworthy and harm players who purchase them. Some third-party NFT systems are also totally reliant on blockchain technology and may necessitate the services of an asset manager who may disappear without a trace.

NFTs have also been marketed at artificially or illegally inflated prices. We understand the fundamental worth of creativity inside our game and seek to establish a marketplace where those merits may be recognized.

As a result, blockchain technologies are not permitted to be integrated within our Minecraft client and Minecraft  servers apps, nor may they be used to make NFTs associated with any in-game content, including worlds, skins, persona items, or other Minecraft mods, minecraft classic, axolotl minecraft to ensure that Minecraft players have a safe and inclusive experience.

We will also watch how blockchain technology improves over time to ensure that the standards above are adhered to and evaluate whether it will enable better secure experiences or other practical and inclusive uses in gaming Minecraft download.

However, we do not intend to include blockchain technology in Minecraft. We hope to have additional information to share with you shortly. Meanwhile, if you’d need to learn more about our policies, you may do so here.

Keep an eye out!
