Which is Paramount Plus? Cost, planning, and shows

The streaming service formerly understood as CBS All Access, rebranded as Paramount Plus, has gone a long way in a very short period. It began as the streaming home for everything on CBS. However, executives swiftly saw the writing on the wall. Streaming was the future, and CBS was an exclusively American brand.

As a result, a pivot happened in March 2021. CBS All Access was rebranded as Paramount Plus. Soon after, parent company ViacomCBS rebranded as Paramount Global, taking its streaming service global and bringing unique content that would otherwise have stayed local. (Some still have various international distributors, but that’s another issue.)

As a result, it’s reasonable to wonder, “What is Paramount Plus?” Now is a terrific time to discover as the service expands and improves. Everything you need to know about Paramount Plus is right here.

There are two major plans available from Amount Plus: Essential and Premium. There are two major differences: Essential includes advertising with most on-demand content and does not include any Showtime series or movies. The premium has no on-demand commercials and includes Showtime content. It also features select content in 4K quality, offline downloads, Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision compatibility on compatible hardware, and a live feed of your local CBS station.

Paramount+

In late June 2023, the price of the two plans was reduced somewhat, with the Essential plan costing $6 per month and the Premium plan costing $12 per month. And the price rises signaled the complete incorporation of Showtime content.

You’ll receive seven days free with any subscription plan before the subscription begins. Don’t worry if you wish to discontinue Paramount+ before your free subscription expires. If you elect to maintain Paramount+, you will begin to be charged after the first week.

What devices can you use Paramount Plus on?

Most of the main streaming devices support Mount+, including:

  • Apple products: Apple TV, iPhone, iPad.
  • Android products: Android TV, Android phones, and tablets.
  • Games consoles: PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X/S.
  • Streaming devices: Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Portal TV, Google Chromecast, Xfinity Flex.
  • Smart TVs: LG, VIZIO, and Samsung (2017 or newer, and only in Australia, Canada, Latin America, and the U.K.).
  • Desktop browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer.
  • Mobile browsers: iOS 11+, Safari, Android 5+, Chrome.

What movies are on Paramount Plus?

As the name suggests, Paramount+ has many movies from Paramount Pictures. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg. Movies from various decades, not simply those from the Paramount archive, may and do exist in Paramount+ in all varieties.

And, like any other streaming service that offers movies, Paramount Plus rotates content regularly. We could go on and on about movies here. But we will not. Instead, we recommend going to Paramount Plus and checking things out.

What shows are on Paramount Plus?

The TV collection at Paramount+ is what truly sets it apart. CBS, Comedy Central, BET, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and MTV all have content in the collection. That means you’ll receive the majority of the CBS library, including South Park, NCIS, CSI, SpongeBob SquarePants, Criminal Minds, and Young Sheldon, and they’ll all be accessible on Paramount+ in their entirety.

There’s also an increasing number of new originals that are only available on Paramount+. Star Trek: Discovery, Star Trek: Lower Decks, Star Trek: Picard, and the planned Star Trek: Strange Latest Worlds are among the latest entrants in the Star Trek world. It’s also the only spot to watch some exclusive South Park episodes. It’s worth mentioning that Star Trek: Prodigy was not only canceled after one season (the second season had yet to be finished), but you can no longer watch it on Paramount+.

Yellowstone Universe is also housed at Paramount Plus. Aside from the core series, it has Mayor of Kingstown, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jeremy Renner, and the Yellowstone prequel 1883. And that’s just to get started.

Plenty of reality TV, news (including 60 Minutes), and Smithsonian Channel content exist.

Can you watch live sports on Paramount Plus?

Yes, live sports are available on Paramount Plus. There are quite a number of them.

The NFL is the biggest. That’s not to imply that you can watch every single NFL game on Paramount Plus because you can’t. It also does not allow you to watch out-of-market NFL games. (We’re not even talking about the Sunday Ticket.)However, if you have one of the Paramount Plus plans, you can watch the regional game broadcast on your local CBS station. If you’re on the $5-per-month Essential plan (which includes advertising in on-demand content), you’ll be disconnected as soon as the game is completed. So, if you want to participate in any post-game activities, you must pay for the Premium subscription.

On Paramount Plus, the second sort of football, ftbol, is also widespread. It is, in particular, (primarily) accessible on the Paramount+ Premium plan.

The UEFA Champions League is the biggest example since it annually puts the top club clubs in Europe against one other. The Champions League will be available on any of the two Paramount Plus plans.

The Europa League, which includes clubs who did not qualify for the Champions League, follows. There’s also the NWSL (the US women’s professional league), Serie A in Italy, Brasileiro in Brazil, the CONCACAF Nation’s League, the Scottish Professional Football League, and several World Cup qualifiers. All of this will need the more costly Premium plan.

WhaYou don’t gety sort of live sports in 4K quality. That’s hardly surprising, given how rare such capabilities are on any streaming service. However, it would be good to see it at some point.

Can you watch Paramount Plus with a cable subscription?

Today, if you like to watch Paramount+, you have to have a subscription to Paramount+. Full stop. No more freeloading.

What you can do, yet, is utilize an existing TV provider subscription — whether it’s cable, satellite, or streaming — to log in to CBS.com and watch a live feed of your local CBS station, CBSN, CBS Sports HQ, or ET Live.

But it doesn’t get you into Paramount Plus.
