With so many aesthetic possibilities, deciding which skin to choose before boarding the Fortnite Battle Bus may be tough. Let’s take a trip down memory lane and tally down the top 20 most-used skins in Fortnite history as of 2023.

Aside from the heated showdowns after each round, one of the most intriguing aspects of Fortnite is the variety of skins and crossovers available. Some may be purchased, while others must be unlocked by completing unique tasks.

These skins don’t provide you with a competitive edge (although the infamous pay-to-win superhero skin did create some issues until it was rectified), but they do allow you to show off your particular flair or even play as your favorite movie characters.

Everyone has a favorite skin they love returning to, whether it’s an epic crossover skin like Marvel’s Black Widow and The Witcher’s Geralt of Rivia or an actual character like the banana-human hybrid Peely and even Agent Jonesy himself.

We combed through the Fortnite history books to put up a list of 20 of the finest skins that were featured in the game when it first launched back in 2017.

Lexa skin

Lexa has been the most popular of the latest unique Fortnite skins. She is often called the ‘anime girl’ of the series due to her unusual cel-shaded anime-style design, pink hair, and wide-eyed appearance.

The finest part about Lexa, though, is the unlocked built-in Hunter Protocol emote, which sets mechafusion levels to the maximum’ and allows players to completely modify her look, transforming her into a robotic hunter.

Deadpool skin

Fortnite skins

Are there any Marvel superheroes more popular right now than Deadpool? He was resigned to being a favorite of comic book fans until the smash 2016 film, but now that he’s gained mainstream fame, the whole globe has fallen for the wise-cracking’merc with a tongue.

Players went wild for him when he was introduced as a challenge prize in Chapter 2: Season 2, and we can understand why; he’s the ideal crossover skin since he’s one of the few Marvel heroes that would wield an assault rifle or a rocket launcher in his movies and books.

Joy skin

The Joy skin, based on a design by artist DahjaCat, is one of the most distinctive skins available in Fortnite since it comes with a built-in emote based on the popular Doja Cat and SZA song, Kiss Me More.

Emotes with popular songs generally cost a lot of V-Bucks, so having one included with skin is a great deal. It’s a traversal emote, so you can rollerskate while listening to music.

Spider-Man skin

Fortnite skins

After months of waiting, Marvel fans finally got their hands on the Fortnite skin of their dreams when Spiderman emerged in Chapter 3: Season 1 Battle Pass, accompanying a Web-Shooter equipment that enabled players to swing about the Island.

That’s not all, as a Spiderman modeled on Tom Holland’s Peter Parker from the Marvel Cinematic Universe was released in the Item Shop only a few weeks later, providing players with several ways to become the legendary superhero.

Mizuki skin

Status 100 skins in the Battle Pass always have a unique flavor since unlocking them requires weeks of collecting XP and fulfilling challenges. Mizuki, who debuted in Chapter 4, Season 2, is one of our favorites.

She appears like she stepped out of a Mortal Kombat game, complete with ferocious attire and a razor-sharp fan as a harvesting tool. Even better, you can unlock various personalization choices to ensure you stand out on the battlefield.

Marshmello skin

Fortnite memorialized popular DJ Marshmello by putting on a performance organized by the music legend. He even received his skin with unlocked cosmetics when 10 million players tuned in.

Aside from being an incredible skin, Marshmello demonstrated the future of live entertainment, paving the way for rapper Travis Scott to perform his Fortnite crossover event a year later.

Renegade Raider skin

Fortnite skins

Okay, so the design isn’t anything exceptional, but what makes Renegade Raider a standout is that it was only available as a Battle Pass prize in Chapter 1: Season 1, making it the rarest skin in the game.

Wearing this during a match makes it evident to other players that you’ve been visiting The Island from the beginning, which merits a particular spot on our list.

Spider-Gwen skin

Spiderman was such a popular skin in Fortnite that it was only a matter of time until additional comic-book skins entered the roster. This happened in Chapter 3: Season 4 when Spider-Gwen became the Level 100 Battle Pass skin.

Spider-Gwen (also known as Gwen Stacey or Spider-Woman) is a character from the animated film Spiderman: Into The Spider-Verse. Unlike some other crossover skins, the graphic style is faithfully reproduced in Fortnite.

Superman skin

While Marvel superheroes tend to take center stage in Fortnite, the anticipation for Superman’s entrance in Chapter 2: Season 7 was palpable – it was teased for weeks before ultimately being released as the season’s Secret Skin.

The Man of Steel includes:

  • A built-in emote that allows him to shift from Clark Kent to Superman in-game.
  • Something only a few skins haveand.
  • An epic Shadow style that only the most committed players could unlock.

Naruto skin

Fortnite skins

Naruto, the beloved ninja from Konohagakure, was one of the most hyped Fortnite skins ever. After months of rumors and teases, the anime symbol finally comes with matching cosmetics and a Kunai throwable weapon.

Team 7 – Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi – could be purchased from the in-game store. But, as there is only one place for one Naruto character on our list, it must be the main man himself.

Michonne skin

Michonne from The Walking Dead is one of the most badass characters in television history, so seeing the zombie slayer carry her katana to The Island with Daryl Dixon made perfect sense despite the unexpected crossover.

The finest part of the Walking Dead skins was that they were completely hidden until they were revealed by surprise at the 2020 Game Awards. Most skins leak ahead of time, but these were a complete surprise.

Demogorgon skin

Fortnite skins

The Demogorgon skin from the smash Netflix series Stranger Things may be the most horrifying skin we’ve seen in Fortnite. Imagine witnessing this creature emerge from a dark spot on The Island at night. We’d prefer not to.

The Demogorgon is one of those skins you wouldn’t think would transfer well to the game, yet it does. Special mention should be made to fan-favorite character Chief Hopper, who has his skin in the game.

Ariana Grande skin

Pop singer Ariana Grande entered the Fortnite universe in 2021, following in the footsteps of other music superstars like Marshmello and Travis Scott, when she played a virtual performance as part of the show-stopping Rift Tour event.

Fans could purchase a skin with several clothes and accompanying cosmetics based on the 7 Rings singer, and the designs are among the greatest we’ve seen in the game yet. In a subsequent update, Ariana reappeared with even more wardrobe options.

Harley Quinn skin

Along with all of the popular Marvel superhero skins, the renowned DC villain Harley Quinn has earned a cult of fans thanks to her comic book roots and recent live-action performances in the Suicide Squad films.

Because she’s so popular, it’s uncommon to play a match of Fortnite without seeing a Harley Quinn somewhere on the battlefield. It also helps that many costume options are available, allowing you to stand out from the crowd.

Peely skin

Fortnite skins

We can all agree it’s a stupid skin. But, whether you like it or not, Peely has become a Fortnite mascot, often being the brunt of jokes and frequently appearing as hidden easter eggs in different areas with each map update.

If you’re wearing Peely or one of the numerous goofy-looking spin-off skins like Agent Peely or P-1000, you’ll be seen from a mile away, but we believe it’s worth it to add some fun to The Island.

Galaxy skin

Fortnite skins

The amazing Galaxy skin, accessible to players who purchased a Galaxy Note 9 or a Galaxy Tab S4, has been the most popular of Fortnite’s exclusive skins.

The skin was so popular that some players would go to Samsung shops to log in on one of the devices and attempt to claim it for themselves. Unfortunately, it is no longer available since the skin was vaulted in early 2019.

Snow Dancer skin

Fortnite has a plethora of Christmas-themed skins, with Epic Games generally releasing a few new designs each year. But without question, our favorite so far is Snowdancer, which was introduced to the item store as part of the 2022 Winterfest events.

Snowdancer, unlike other novelty Christmas skins, is elegant enough to be worn all year, with high-fashion clothing and a sleek white and silver color scheme. Even better, it offers a second design with reversed colors when you want to change things.

The Joker skin

Fortnite skins

Not a Marvel fan? No need to worry since there are plenty of DC characters (albeit not as many) to be found in Fortnite instead. The Joker, Batman’s archnemesis, is, of course, the standout of the lot.

Obtaining this much-desired skin will set you back big cash since it can only be unlocked by buying The Last Laugh Bundle, which costs under $30. It does, however, have Poison Ivy and Midas Rex, which is excellent.

Midas skin

Midas is one of Fortnite’s best-designed unique characters since he is basic but appealing. You also had to work hard to unlock the spies’ commander, the Level 100 prize for Chapter 2: Season 2’s Battle Pass.

The skin has now gotten multiple modifications, including Shadow Midas and Midas Rex. It has grown so popular that rumors of new Midas-themed skins coming to the game are always circulating.

Venom skin

Fortnite skins

When Fortnite revealed that Chapter 2: Season 4’s theme will be Marvel superheroes, many players wondered whether a Venom skin would debut in the game. It seemed impossible, yet it happened.

Of course, the skin is massive, and it dcreatedsome vision difficulties while aiming, but it wasn’t enough to put players woping to see the famous Spiderman villain. It is epic.
